A Message from Your Property Appraiser, Vickie A. Downs

Hi friends,

It’s been a busy and exciting month here at the Collier County Property Appraiser’s Office! TRIM Notices have hit your mailboxes, and I’m proud to share that our 2025 Preliminary Tax Roll was officially approved by the Florida Department of Revenue (FDOR).

The FDOR is responsible for the oversight and in-depth auditing of our tax roll data. Each year, our team undergoes four rigorous submission reviews to ensure compliance with state statutes and the highest levels of accuracy. This year, I’m especially proud of our professionals for submitting the Preliminary Tax Roll earlier than ever before in our office’s history - a true testament to their dedication and hard work!

Warmly,

Vickie A. Downs

Collier County Property Appraiser

📬 TRIM Notices Are Here!

Your Truth in Millage (TRIM) Notice was mailed on August 18th. This important document provides:✔️ Your proposed property values✔️ Millage rates set by taxing authorities✔️ An estimate of your proposed property taxes.

Remember: our office values property, but your tax rates are set by your elected taxing authorities. The TRIM Notice also lists public budget hearings, where you can make your voice heard.

⚖️ Value Adjustment Board (VAB)

ree

If you believe your property assessment is incorrect, the Value Adjustment Board is your avenue to appeal. The VAB is an independent body that reviews evidence from both property owners and our office to ensure fairness and accuracy. Instructions on how to petition are included in your TRIM Notice.

📣 Out in the Community

We were honored to join Gulf Coast International Properties for a Lunch & Learn session this month!

Thank you to Vicki Tracy for coordinating this great event, and a special thanks to Clerk of Courts Crystal K. Kinzel for joining us in the discussion. These opportunities to connect with our community and share resources are invaluable.

We discussed our office’s role, how homestead exemptions work, fraud prevention tools, and answered questions from real estate professionals.
