A Message from Your Property Appraiser, Vickie A. Downs
February may be the shortest month of the year, but it’s been a busy and productive one for our office. It’s wonderful to see so many seasonal residents back in Collier County, and I continue to enjoy connecting with familiar faces throughout our community.
As we move through the early months of 2026, our team remains focused on accuracy, transparency, and service. Whether assisting homeowners with exemptions, supporting business owners with Tangible Personal Property filings, or preparing for upcoming deadlines, we are here to serve you.
Warmly,
Vickie A. Downs
Collier County Property Appraiser
💡Homestead Exemption Reminder

If you moved into your residence in 2025 you have until March 2nd, 2026 to file for your 2026 Homestead Exemption and have your assessed value capped for 2027.
📅 The deadline to file for your 2026 Homestead Exemption is March 1, 2026.
Homestead Exemption can provide significant property tax savings and helps cap future increases in assessed value. Our team is here to help guide you through the application process and answer any questions you may have. You can learn more at collierappraiser.com

💡Out in the Community

This month, Vickie A. Downs had the opportunity to be out in the community attending several local events. She enjoyed visiting the Everglades Seafood Festival and attending the Naples Reagan Club, where she had the chance to speak with Senator Ashley Moody and hear Enrique Padron share his inspiring story. In addition, Vickie met with several homeowner associations and community groups throughout the month. It’s always a pleasure to connect with residents and stay engaged across Collier County.
💡FAQ Spotlight: Protect Your Property from Fraud

Q: What’s one easy thing I can do to protect my property from fraud?
A: Enroll in the Clerk’s Risk Alert Program.
Scammers can file fake deeds, liens, or mortgages to steal property or delay sales. Collier County residents can now get notified when any document is recorded against their property.
